the premise: very canon divergent. ot4 involving deacon and three OCs. features several other OCs for plot filling. originated as a one-off that grew wildly out of hand. building towards an institute + railroad + minutemen alliance (hear us out, ok). expect: lots of smut, poly for everyone, the worst writing of slow burn ever, time travel fix-it, enclave remnants, institute reform, shades of grey everywhere
the set-up: the "nate" and "nora" of this story are riley and zetta reynolds, a soldier and a scientist who grew up together. eventually, their relationship grew to include ferran raine, who turned out to work for the government in routing out communist sympathizers -- but he genuinely fell in love with them, and in the end, they chose to accept him. flash forward a couple years, and zetta becomes pregnant. flash forward after shaun's birth, and the bombs fall. flash forward -- kellogg kills riley, and a cryo pod malfunction saves ferran's life, but still nearly kills him. flash forward, zetta leaves the vault alone thinking she's lost everything, and is set on a hellpath to find her son. ferran is saved by the railroad, and rushes to catch up with zetta. this connection to the railroad leads them to meet deacon, and then, from there... the plot takes over.
