Riley inclines his head as he starts to back up to follow them, but before he turns, he says,] I'm sorry about your family, [even it'd probably be smarter for him to say something like, we'll get back to you once we make some progress.]
[Nathan pivots to scrutinize Riley's expression, expecting some kind of mockery or disdain. But Riley's face is all sincerity and consoling. Nathan nods once in acknowledgement.]
